Are we still doing discovery calls in 2024?

Not every client needs a Zoom.

Don’t get me wrong I love a good face-to-face chat but if I can get everything I need over email I will.

Let me explain myself! (put the pitchfork down)

It all depends on the client.

Every client I worked with in 2023 was different. Some clients loved jumping on calls, while others freakin’ hated it.

Forcing clients into meetings when I already had all the information I needed was not only a waste of everyone’s time, but it slowed me down.

Discovery calls were one of my biggest sources of friction in 2023.

So why was I doing it?

Because it’s what everyone else was doing.

So not doing it made me feel like a bad designer, and worse yet, a bad business owner.

So instead of trusting myself, and listening to my clients, I just followed the herd and got more and more stressed out.

That kind of energy is so last year.

2024 is the year of listening, and I’m all ears.

This year I’m meeting my clients where they are.
